                      Who Am I ?

Westchester, New York is the place I call home and have since birth. New York City is just a 30-minute drive to the south from my hometown. Baseball was my life growing up, from watching to playing, from learning to teaching, I’ve done it all. I was blessed with the opportunity to pitch for the Paladin baseball team and to attend Furman University, located in the beautiful upstate of South Carolina. Before getting the opportunity I had dreamed of since my childhood, my plans changed. My mindset went from pitching for a division 1 baseball program to recovering from a life changing surgery. I had torn my UCL in my pitching elbow just prior to taking the mound for the first time and needed to focus on recovery. Through this surgery and recovery, my eyes have been opened. I have learned more than I ever thought I could about the game I love and thankfully, along the way, I learned a thing or two about life outside a game. I’ve learned to be persistent towards overcoming adversity in all aspects of life – not only baseball. I have had my fair share of bumps and bruises along the way – not to mention torn ligaments – but it has shaped who I am today. I only hope for this to continue to shape the rest of what lies ahead. My name is Steven Henry Fondu and I am a communications major and baseball player for Furman University.
